John likes baby animals but his father would not let him keep any as pets because John was too young to look after the baby animals properly. John was happy to help his father to feed the baby animals but he still longed to have one of his own. John is finally rewarded for his patience when he gets baby ducklings to keep as pets.
Hey, There, Come Back! is about a naughty goblin named Ho-Ho who lives in Birch-Tree village and makes a lot of mischief. He would always tease Dame Snappy’s cat that slept under the hedge and give it a nasty shock. One day, Dame Snappy who is fed up with Ho-Ho makes a firm decision to punish him because she is not going to tolerate Ho-Ho’s nonsense any longer.
Dame Snappy sets a trap for Ho-Ho the next time he comes to tease her cat, and warns him that she will cast a spell on him which would turn him into a thistle that she would throw into the field for the donkey to eat. The thistle spell sends the naughty goblin Ho-Ho running to the Medicine Gnome where he learns a bitter lesson and behaves better in the future.
