Every person and every child is busy during the month of May. The reason is because of the Vesak festival. All Buddhists are engaged in making lanterns, pandals and many more decorations for Vesak. This festival signifies the Birth of the Buddha, his Enlightenment and Passing away (Parinibbana). Buddhists observe sil and go to the temple. Houses are decorated with gaudy bulbs and lanterns. Streets are filled with people watching the pandals and big lanterns. Every Buddhist house is decorated with lanterns or bulbs. People go to temple and worship on this day. This year the Vesak festival was very colourful with flags and lanterns along the streets and houses. It is a very colourful event.
