The High Commission of India, Colombo will present Ms. Ishwarya Chaitanya, Bharatha Natyam danseuse from India at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre Auditorium, 16/2, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7 on February 27 at 6 pm.
Ishwarya Chaitanya completed her Arangetram under Guru Sri Jai Govinda, of Vancouver, Canada. Born and raised in Vancouver, Ishwarya’s passion for dance brought her to Karnataka Kalashree Guru B. Bhanumati of Bangalore, under whom she has been training for the past 9 years. After completing her MFA in dance from Sastra University, under the guidance of the legendary Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, Ishwarya became a member of Guru Bhanumati’s internationally renowned troupe, Bharatanjali and has performed all over India.
Ishwarya is also a trained Yoga teacher and has completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy at Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana University in Bangalore.
She also has experience working with children both in India and North America, having worked as Yoga instructor and camp coordinator in community centres and elementary schools in British Columbia, Canada.
