Letting your hair down

28 October, 2018

Let’s face it, once our final examination is over most of us really wanted to go on a long vacation. “I need six month break from all stress,” is commonly seen in every social media sites. Obviously, a six month vacation twice a year isn’t practicable unless you are in no job company. But, to all those who are in need of a vacation, do we really try for a few days off work, studies and other obligatory activities.

A group of young girls join together on a trip to Trincomalee, under the guidance and support of their parents. Students after the final examination of Advance Level who were determined to experience the word of ‘freedom’ and ‘happiness’, had a blasting three days in Trincomalee. For two and half years being in a more stressful life, stuck in weird words like Newton formulas, Einstein relativity theory, company accounts and opportunity costs, the gateway to happiness and joy was shut down until the final day of the Advance Level.

Let’s meet these buddies! Inoshi de Silva, Sajini Wijesinghe, Shammi Wickramaratne, Anujaya, Inuri de Silva, Jayanaka and Oshini who are childhood mates going to different schools. Friends, who were separated by bio, maths, commerce and arts. Although they were sad not being together in the same schools they were very much in touch. Final years of school have come to an end an immense happiness felt that the Advance Level is over. Chilling out in the midst of the beautiful scenery of turquoise water and powdery salt at Marble Beach. Feeling the sea breeze on their face, the girls had best time of the year.

Yup, holidays are awesome. The beauty of nature been ignored in this two years of school the girls were shouting to watch over the sunset by the shore which never fails to amuse the watchers saying ‘good night’ slowing filling the calmness to the mind. Staring at the ocean and finding all their problems of exams and results seems to melt away as a sense of peace overcomes them they began their night with dance, songs, live music around the camp fire filled with delicious food and laughter. For thirteen years the white code uniform demand that had been on them is no longer as they decorated themselves with bohemian styles taking pictures as models and funny poses they were happy, it’s a reminder that says Relax! Life is simple.

Two birthday parties were also celebrated as a surprise to those birthday girls which turned out a cake fight all by the shore. Overlook the face of stress enjoying a sea bath and fresh air which had been forgotten due to scary math in the head, this is what they needed after an awful two and half years of schools.

This experience after the horrendous two and half years gave them enormous happiness and they are thankful to their parents who gave them this opportunity to just hang free.
