The Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka has organized a new photography competition for Sri Lankans on ‘Humanity and Earth’.
“Photographers can share their ideas about what is protecting and saving our environment, and what climate change and the responsibilities and challenges mean to us as humans, and the island we live in. You gain a chance to receive professional feedback, visualize your thoughts and observations in a photographic manner and express your talents to a jury of professionals from Germany and Sri Lanka. The selected candidates will participate in a unique mentored photography workshop, develop photo essays and display their photographs to the public,” the organizers said.
Those who are interested can fill out the application form, accessible at the following link: www.goethe.de/ins/lk/en/ver.cfm?fuseaction=events.detail&event_id=21166124 and send it together with the portfolio by the April 30. Ten photographers will be selected by Andy Spyra (Germany) and Liz Fernando (Germany/Sri Lanka) by May 6. The 10 winners will be invited to a free mentored photography workshop held from June 1 to 10 that will take place in an island wide trip starting in Colombo, led by Andy Spyra and Liz Fernando. The photographic results of the workshop will be published online on the website of Goethe-Institut and at a screening event.
The photos must be original works of your own and shall not be older than 2 years and thus must not be shot before 2016. Citizens and residents of Sri Lanka between 18 and 35 years, with a portfolio of up to 20 photographs can participate.
