93rd Anniversary Celebrations of Ananda Balika Vidyalaya

The Old Girls Association (OGA) of the Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, Maradana, Colombo organised a Pirith Ceremony to mark the 93rd Anniversary of the school. It was held at the Sir Anagarika Darmapla Museum of the school recently. Ananda Balika was established on January 25, 1925 in Campbell Street, Borella by Anagarika Darmapala.

The Principal of Ananda College P. De. S. Kularathne started Ananda Balika Vidyalaya as a branch of Ananda College. The first Principal was Kularathne's wife Hilda Kularathne.

The Principal of the Vidyalaya Anoma Dahanayaka, Vice Principals, Chintha Kanthi, Muthunayaka and other teachers were present.

The Pirith was organised by the OGA of Ananda Balika and Vice Presidents Udangani Senarathne, Dilini Shiromi Wijerathne, Secretary Anuja de Silva, Treasurer Ranoja de Siva and Adviser Ruchira Yapa Abeywardena. The following day an alms-giving was given by the 1987 batch led by Athika Rathnayake (SLBC).

A Bana Pinkama was held at Vidyodaya Temple. All the students with teachers were present.

Five scholarships were given to the best students who passed the recent Advanced Level Examination.
