My motherland

11 February, 2018

Sri Lanka is my motherland. It is a beautiful island in the Indian Ocean. It is known as the ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’ because of its shape. It is an agricultural country. So our staple food is rice. Sri Jayawardanepura Kotte is the capital of Sri Lanka. There are nine provinces and 25 districts in Sri Lanka. Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and Burghers live in my country. They practise different religions. There are many beautiful places such as flower gardens, forests, beaches and waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Thousands of tourists visit my country throughout the year to admire its beauty. As a Sri Lankan, I’m very proud of my country.
