Sri Lanka is an island situated in the Indian ocean. It is also known as the ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’.
Sri Lanka’s capital city is Sri Jayewardenepura, Kotte. The official language is Sinhala. The commercial city is Colombo. There are four main ethic groups. The population is over 20 million. The highest mountain is Piduruthalagala and the longest river is Mahaweli. There are world heritage sites in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with a rich history. All Sri Lankans should appreciate the beauty of the country and protect it for the future.
