The Railway Children written by the children’s author Edith Nesbit is one of my favourite books. It is a very interesting piece of literature published by Penguin.
The story concerns a family that moves from their cozy villa in London to “The Three Chimneys”, a house near the railway in Yorkshire, after their father is imprisoned, being falsely accused of spying. The children become friends with an old gentleman who regularly takes the 9.15 train near their home. He is eventually able to help prove their father’s innocence and the family is re-united.
I like this book because it teaches us how to enjoy life during tough times, and also implies that every end is a new beginning. It is not only children, but also adults can enjoy reading this book. A great bond among family members makes it easy to face problems and the love inside a family makes us even stronger.
