The author Charles Dickens has created a helpless but endearing orphaned boy called Oliver Twist in the novel by the same name. Oliver Twist was first published by Richard Bentley in 1838.
Oliver is a likeable boy born into terrible misfortune, who somehow always seems to rise above his environment and circumstances. He suffers terribly, but something inside him is stronger than anything.
“Please, sir, I want some more.” That is one of the most famous lines in this story, spoken by the young orphan Oliver when he dares to ask for some more food in the workhouse.
For a certain reason Oliver has to flee from the workhouse for the streets of London. There he meets Artful Dodger, who leads him to Fagin and his gang of thieves. But Oliver’s natural honesty, strength and goodness enable him to resist and ultimately overcome his dreadful surroundings.
This is a very interesting story. So I urge you to read this wonderful book.
