Shankar’s International Children’s Competition 2018 at the Indian Cultural Centre

The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Colombo will organise painting, drawing and writing competitions for children on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 9.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m at the Indian Cultural Centre, 16/2 Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7. This is to commemorate Children’s Day, which falls on November 14, every year, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.

Children who are interested in participating may register their names with the Centre (Tel. 011-2684698, Telefax 2684697, e-mail [email protected]) and are requested to come to ICC at 9.00 am on November 11, 2017. The entries of children would be sent to New Delhi for the Shankar’s International Children’s Competition 2017. The Shankar’s International Children’s Competition 2018, in the categories of writing, painting and drawing, is open to children all over the world born on or after January 1, 2002.

The competition was started in 1949 by late Shri Shankar Pillai, a celebrated cartoonist and recipient of several awards including Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan. The participation in the competition has increased greatly over the years with children from over 130 countries participating and winning prizes.
