My favourite writer is Martin Wickremasinghe. He was born in Koggala in 1890. There were 12 members in his family and he was the youngest. He studied up to Grade 5. He studied Sinhala, Pali and Sanskrit at the village temple. He wrote articles for newspapers. In 1920 he joined the Editorial staff of the Dinamina newspaper. Leela was his first novel. Madolduwa, Gamperaliya, Kaliyugaya and Yuganthaya are were some of his famous novels. Martin Wickremasinghe has done a great service to our country. This famous writer passed away in 1976.
