Dream Works by British School in Colombo

Dream Works, the biennial month-long art and craft exhibition held at the British School in Colombo was a spectacular art extravaganza which showcased the talent of the juniors of the school. The aim of the art exhibition was to share the enthusiasm and unseen talents and capabilities of young children. The art teachers of the Junior School, Indika and Noeline selected the themes and the contents and displaying the paintings and 3-D models, with the assistance of the Junior School staff.

The opening ceremony dance was performed by the students with colourful costumes designed by the students, which was brought out by the dance teachers, Romina and Nadeeka. Principal Dr. John Scarth welcomed the invitees and parents and described that he had a preview of some of the exhibits which were outstanding pieces of work from children. Dr. John Scarth also mentioned that the clay models showing different hairstyles was his favourite section.

The chief guest Shanta Gunaratna delivered a very inspiring speech emphasising the importance of child art education in moulding a well-balanced personality in every child. She said that parents should encourage their children to bring out their creativity and the freedom of expression from a very early age. The Head Boy, Krrish Khanth and the Head Girl, Maya Vitarana delivered the votes of thanks.
