My favourite book is Jane Eyre. This novel is written by Charlotte Bronte. It was first published in 1847. The main character of this novel is Jane Eyre. This is a story about a woman of a working class background who tries to find happiness and love by overcoming barriers.
Jane’s father and mother died when she was very small. After the death of her parents, Jane lives with her cruel Aunt Reed who abuses her and treats her as a servant. Mrs. Reed’s children are also unkind to innocent Jane. Jane is isolated at home and insulted, and sometimes assaulted by members of the Reed family.
But the encounter with Dr. Lloyd is a turning point in her life. Amidst the cruelty of the Reeds’, Jane gains courage to face the challenges in her life. She further develops her qualities of independence and courage at the Lowood charity school.
Arriving at Thornfield Hall as a governess opens Jane’s path to a new chapter in her life. Mr. Rochester, the owner of Thornfield Hall falls in love with her, and Jane finds happiness and love with Rochester. But soon Jane realizes that Rochester has hidden the truth about his life. But Jane proves to be a woman of great honesty. Thus, Jane’s independent decision making, indomitable courage and sincerity make her a memorable character in the mind of the reader.
