
Galileo Galilei is a great scientist. He was born on 15th February 1564 in Pisa, Italy. His father was Vincenzo Galilei and his mother was Giulia Diegli Cosimo Ammannati. After completing his schooling at the age of 18 he entered university. At a very young age, Galileo showed a special talent for mechanical inventions. He invented hydrostatic balance, military compass, pendulum clock, thermometer and the telescope.
After the invention of the telescope, he used it to look at the universe. Then he studied the stars and planets. He discovered that the Earth orbits around the Sun. So Galileo’s telescope was a great success. A replica of it can be seen at NASA. Galileo died on 8th January, 1642 leaving new discoveries and knowledge for the future.
