BEST BOOK REVIEWS: Alien invasion

One of my favourite book series is Animorphs. There are 54 books in the series. It is a story of five children and an alien, Andalite. The five children, Jake, Marco, Tobias, Cassie and Rachel are given the power to morph into any animal by absorbing its DNA.

The power was given by a dying Andalite prince named Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul who wanted them to stop an invasion by parasite aliens called Yeerks. They are slugs, but they can crawl into any living creature’s brain and take total control. The leader of the invasion on Earth is Visser Three. He is the only Yeerk with an Andalite host body so he also has power to morph.

The five children, who are called Animorphs, made friends with Elfangor’s little brother, Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill (Ax). They have many adventures but even if they don’t win, they survive.

There are also rules for morphing. Stay more than two hours in a morph and you are a nothlit, a person trapped in morph like Tobias, who is trapped forever as a red-tailed hawk but regains his power to morph. There are also certain twists in the story. For example, Marco’s mother is the host body to the most powerful Yeerk alive, Visser One.

Elfangor, the dead prince, was the father of Tobias. I like Animorphs very much. If you want to understand the whole story, read the Animorph series.
