Glint of Gold 2017

26 March, 2017

The Year Three and Year Four students of the British School in Colombo presented ‘Glint of Gold.’ Set in November 1922, the story begins with Howard Carter's famous discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Along with Lord Carnarvon and his daughter Lady Evelyn, Carter enters the tomb and discovers the treasures buried for over 3,000 years.

The visitors discover the story of this little known king through the hieroglyphs that comes to life, teaching all about Ancient Egypt. Tutankhamun who is awakened, needs to join his father, the Osiris, among the stars.

The strong and catchy tunes helped the musical to convey it’s message successfully. The script by Gawen Robinson has been adapted to suit our cast of Year Three and Year Four pupils numbering 200 pupils.

One of such a theatrical production’s greatest gift is that it enabled the children to work together as a team following deadlines, developing self-discipline and also in accepting feedback.

The play was directed by Fazla Khaleel
