There are many kinds of birds in this world. But, did you know that there are many birds in the world that cannot fly?
The first is “Feugian Steamer Ducks”. They are the largest steamer ducks in the world. The male ducks weigh about 3.5 to 7 kilograms. They eat small snails, insect larvae and small crustaceans. They are known to be very aggressive.
The second is “Emperor Penguins”. They are one of the most known flightless birds. Adult Emperor Penguins have a white stomach, a black head, back tails and wings. They also have a yellow-gold marking on the side of their head and neck. On average, they measure 115 centimetres in height. They are found in Antarctica. They mostly feed on fish, squid and krill. They are very skilled swimmers and divers.
Do you know about the Kiwi? The Kiwi is the National Bird of New Zealand. There are five species of Kiwi, and all of them are flightless and nocturnal. They have hidden wings and soft hair like feathers. The female birds lay comparatively large eggs that can weigh up to about 500 grams. Inaccessible Island Rail, Cassowary and Takahe (taa-ku-hee) are also flightless birds.
