The computer is an electronic machine which is used to calculate, draw and design. The person who invented the computer is Charles Babbage. He is known as the father of the modern digital computer. He studied at Cambridge University, England in the early nineteenth century. The world’s first computer is named as MARK-1. It was made in 1944. The world’s first computer which was sold for the first time is the UNIVOAC, first sold in 1965. The computer has five generations. The first generation used vacuum tubes and the second transistors. The third generation computer functioned on Integrated Circuits (ICs). The computers that we are using belong to the fourth generation and it works on microprocessors. After this, the fifth generation will be Artificial Intelligence and Robots.
