During the holidays we visited Sinharaja forest. My mother prepared snacks and drinks to have it on our way. We started our journey early morning. It took about five hours to reach Veddagala. We had lunch at the Blue Magpie Lodge. Sinharaja is a tropical rainforest. It is in the Ratnapura district. It is a world heritage site and it is very famous all over the world. It has a variety of useful plants and huge trees. It has many species of animals, birds, insects and reptiles. No one is allowed to cut down trees. Sinharajs has a pleasant climate.
We got permits and a guide at the entrance. We got to know that Sinharaja borders three districts – Galle, Matara and Ratnapura. We saw the jungle fowl, blue magpie, giant wood spider and many more. We saw pitcher plants, wild mushrooms and giant bovitiya. We touched some wild rabbits. There were many leeches in the forest. I was scared. We took photographs of beautiful scenes. I also bought some books on Sinharaja. We returned home after a wonderful trip.
