In Buddha's time some monks listened to the Dhamma preached by Lord Buddha. They went to a jungle near the village to meditate under a tree which provided shelter for God Alpeshakya. When they were meditating he started to disturb them by making noises, shaking trees, trampling grass etc. The disappointed monks tried hard but they couldn't concentrate on their meditation. They went to meet Lord Buddha who taught them a new sutra called the Karaneeya Metta Sutra that is good for the fear of phenomena. After that they went to the jungle and started reciting the sutra. The result was that the Gods became calm and began helping them with their work. Even today Buddhists preach the sutra when they have any fear.
