English is an international language. It is spoken by many people in the world. It is a key to the modern world. I think it is one of the most important languages in the world. Many people are interested in learning this language. English is taught in Sri Lankan schools. Not only schoolchildren but also elders have the opportunity to learn English. Those who intend to go abroad for higher education must learn English because most of the text books are written in English. If we can speak English, we can communicate with foreigners and exchange ideas with them. We can also get foreign jobs easily. We can learn English by reading books, watching and listening to programmes. English is an added qualification for a good job. As Sri Lankans we must read, write and speak English.
