Hejaaz International School was crowned the All Island ‘B’ Division Scrabble Champions at the tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Scrabble League at the Lyceum International School, Nugegoda recently. The team was led by the captain Rashard Bary, and included Zakkey Irshard, Shakeel Ahamed, Maajid Bilal and Ismail Hashim.
This young team, all below 16 years of age, was coached by renowned enthusiast and one of the pioneer coaches of the game in Sri Lanka, Lakshman Cooray, who has taken extra pain and effort to mould this team into a cohesive and winning unit. The team members displayed a superior knowledge of this word game and played with confidence to bag trophy which also promoted them to the ‘A’ division for next year.
