
The unveiled trophy for the upcoming 2018 the Asian Volleyball Championship commenced its tour of the country from Gampaha.
The Parade got off from the Siyane ground before it started the island-wide tour showcasing the Trophy to educate the general public of the value of the first ever Asian Championship.
Navin Pieris the head of Broadband and Fixed Telecommunications, Dialog Axiata, Dimuthu Cooray, General Manager Broadband and Fixed Telecommunication, Dialog Axiata PLC and Shameel Bishri, head of Marketing, Dialog Axiata PLC were at hand for the launch.
The Trophy will parade through Panadura, Kalutara, Ambalangoda, Galle, Ratnapura, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Jaffna, Negombo, Weligama, Katunayake and 15 other places across Sri Lanka along with a parade, super bikes, exciting games and other promotions for fans and end on September 14, a day before the tournament starts.
In this year’s tourney teams from across eight countries, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Mongolia and Iraq will be in the fray.Sri Lanka currently ranks 14th among other Asian countries and enters the tournament with the hope of winning the championship.
