Experienced Prasad de Silva a product of Vidyartha College and Hillwood College schoolgirl Bimandee Bandara are in the Sri Lanka side for the Asian table tennis championship that commences today in South Korea.
De Silva is Sri Lanka’s number one ranked men’s player who has won several titles while Bimandee is the National women’s champion and the youngest player of the side.
The most experience player of the side is Dinesh Deshapriya is among the four men’s team.
Deshapriya is a differently able player due to a leg handicap and is also in the National Paralympic team.
Virunaka Hendahewa from Sri Jayawardenapura University and Nuwantha Niroshana of Sabaragamuwa University are the other men’s team members while Navy paddler Hansani Piyumila Kalugeekiyana and Maneesha Salindi are the other two members of the women’s team.
Former TT player Kumudi de Silva of Yasodara MV Pittugala who is also the vice president of the Table Tennis Association is the team Manager and Lady Chaperon.
The Sri Lanka team players are scheduled to play the singles and doubles matches in this tournament while this time they are without any coach.
