Trinity awards Lions and Colours to 32 sportsmen

Trinity College honoured its sportsmen who excelled in their respective fields by awarding them Lions and Colours for the year 2022 at a special assembly held at the main hall on November 8.

Principal of the College Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara made the presentations in the presence of parents, friends and well wishers.

The prestigious Lions award went to Ranuda Somaratne and Pawan Pathiraja for cricket, cadets A.M.S. Thalakotuwa, karate exponent H.P. Weerasekara and badminton player M.W.M.M.G. Wijesundara.

Colours for athletics were awarded to S.R.B. Wanigasekara and S.N. Ranaweera while cricket Colours went to Akram Muthalib, Vibhavith Ehelepola, Manula Kularatne, Theeraka Ranatunga and Rahal Amarasinghe.

Karate exponents J.M.S. Jayasinghe and M.R. Ishqullah also received Colours while football players R.R. Wijesinghe and S.N. Gunawardena received their Colours.

Colours were also awarded to weightlifters D. Karunasena, K. Jayaratne and B. Epitawatte while rugby Colours went to Ravindu Wickramasinghe, Shehan Sirisoma, Bawantha Dharmapala, Kovida Wickramasinghe, Dulara Alawattegama, Loshika Wijekoon, Shamendra Dissanayake, Shaven Premaratne, Aatab Manzil, Jayageeth Basnayake, Chamendra Dhanapala, Kaveesha Edema and Lithmal Moragoda (re-awarded).
