Mrs. Sri Lanka World 2021 Pushpika reaches out to fellow Sri Lankans

14 November, 2021

As a modern day woman representing all married women of Sri Lanka, Pushpika De Silva has embarked on a journey, which is not so common today, in the pageant scene. While many a beauty queen strives hard to make a mark in the industry and see their career propel, many are seen to forget the basic essence of beauty pageants; giving back to community!

Lend a Helping Hand campaign launched by Pushpika to elevate the lives of the less fortunate has taken her to places and many communities and cities. Working harder than ever, Pushpika, amid a list of events and charitable causes she has embarked on, recently started on her second major project of completing a partly built house in Kalutara for a mother and a daughter.

Having lost her husband when the daughter was a toddler, this mother has worked hard all her life to look after her daughter, raise her and educate her. Pushpika’s efforts and generosity has given a ray of hope to the mother and daughter to start living with the hope of building their lives and living in a home they once dreamt of.

Work began on the third week of October. The house is expected to be completed in four months. “It is indeed rewarding and a blessing to be able to help the mother and the daughter believe in themselves and to strive for a better tomorrow. I am happy God has given me that opportunity to be a part of their story even in the little way I could,” Pushpika said when asked of the event.

“My work will never end or stop. I will work twice as hard to ensure that I give back to my country in every possible way, with or without the crown on my head,” Pushpika said, as she ventures to her other projects as reigning Mrs. Sri Lanka World 2021.
