St. Peter’s College produced a strong batting performance to outplay Dharmaraja College by a massive 125 runs in their inter-schools Under-19 limited overs tournament encounter played at Bambalapitiya yesterday.
The Peterites virtually sealed the game with their batting effort as they rattled up a formidable 265 for seven from their 50 overs after they were invited to bat first.
The Peterite innings was anchored by Skipper Nipunaka Fonseka (63) while Vinuda Liyanage (64 n.o) added the finishing touches along with Shanshay Gunathilaka (39), Lahiru Chethaka (35) and Shanuka Galagoda (24).
The Rajans never looked like even getting close to that score although they managed to play the full 50 overs while scoring 140 for eight.
Meanwhile, Royal College had a close call as they edged out unfancied Gurukula College, Kelaniya by six runs in a thrilling encounter played at Reid Avenue yesterday.
