She was featured in some of the most outstanding TVcreations - Koombiyo, Nino Live and Kindurangana proving she could contribute to the film industry. Youth Observer met this amazing soul -Yureni Noshika, who does not wait for opportunities, but creates them for herself.
Yureni is a model, singer, dancer, presenter and an actress - simply a woman of multiple talents. Her views on beauty, women and society are inspiring. Shehas stolen the hearts of the younger generation. She is a believer in herself, and she believes in her destiny. Wherever it takes her, she works hard to win at every opportunity.
In 2006 she won the awards Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Tourism World and Models of the New Generation and in 2015 the award for Best Dance Video at the Derana Music Video Awards. Her career depicts the sum of risks she has taken. She never rested on her laurels and hard work has repaid this determined girl well.
In 2018 she won the three most important awards an artiste could get the award for the Most Popular Actress and the award for the Social Media Personality of the Year in the Derana Sunsilk Film Awards, plus the award for the Best Supporting Actress in the Sarasaviya Film Awards.
Yureni is a self taught actress, who creates her path in her own way. If you ever have enjoyed her artistry, it will show you how she challenged the challenges. She is a stunning stage performer who steals the attention of the audience by her voice and dance. For youth who think that they can’t become iconic figures, Yureni is a good role model to follow.
“In our lives, an opportunity will come at a certain time. We should take it when it is opened to us. There is no use of regretting it when it is gone. Most importantly, if there are no chances opened up for you, go ahead and create opportunities for yourself. It all begins with self love. Young people always should be go-getters and strive for the best in their lives” said Yureni.
Her journey is not a single night effort. “Years of hard work created the person who I am today. And I am really proud of it. I am someone who never settles for less than what I deserve. Also I never stop trying, I always love to try new things in order to choose what is best for me. I have come across fans who told me, 'Akki I wanna be like you, I wanna be confident like you', the message I give them is 'Chase your passion, and never stop until you get there. Most importantly ignore the ones who do not trust your journey',” said Yureni.
"You should never limit yourself. Obstacles should inspire you. If you desire to achieve something big in your lives you must want it bad enough and be willing to make sacrifices."
“In my leisure time I love to read books, watch movies and listen to music (mostly I prefer RnB and hip hop). I also love to work out. As an artiste I have to be conscious about my health. I make sure of having a healthy diet and exercise regularly. I don’t spend time on Social Media. I pay more attention to the things that I have to do,” she said.
"Gossip is created by the ones who do not mind their own business, and yes, artistes cannot escape from gossip even if they want to." Yureni’s point of view on gossips is eye opening. "I look at the positive side of gossips. If one can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all. People, who don’t mind their own business, actually don’t have a mind of their own. That’s why they spend time creating bad stories about others. I think even paying attention to them is a waste of time, I totally ignore them, and mind my own business,” she said.
Summing up our discussion,Yureni revealed her secret on how she stays beautiful. “The most valuable jewellery a woman could wear is confidence. I think every woman should wear it. Every young girl should be strong enough to face challenges in life. If you are not confident enough, teach yourself to be confident. You have to believe in yourself first and then it won’t be difficult to conquer the world that is meant for you. Just be true to who you are and take the first step.”
