Assam cricket team in Sri Lanka

A team from the Assam Cricket Association of India is currently on a tour of Sri Lanka for a series of matches.

Some of the players in the team are India Under-19 and IPL player Abu Nechim Ahmed, Pervez Aziz and Riyan Parag who were members of the Youth World Cup winning team.

By this tour they hope to unearth more young talent and pave the way for a competitive mindset. They are also an organisation keen on exposing their young players at district tournaments and providing them with scholarships and motivating them through seminars.

Apart from fine-tuning the boys the Assam Cricket Association pays emphasis on mental and strength conditioning while providing them with the latest in training and skill-level development equipment.

In Sri Lanka the boys will use the occasion to prepare for the forthcoming Indian domestic season.

In their first match they beat DIMO by 52 runs as Gokul Sharma of Assam hit a brilliant hundred (112) to steer his team to 295 while Romario Sharma , Shivsankar Roy and Pritam Das chipped in with 56, 45 and 28 n.o. respectively.

For DIMO Kaviska Anjula took four wickets.

In reply DIMO managed to score 243/9 runs in the allotted overs with Lachit Abeyaratne scoring 66, Promod Hetiwate 57 and Charith Kumarasingha 31. For Assam Pritam Das took three wickets.
