Three killed in accident

Three people were killed yesterday morning in Minuwangoda when the truck they were travelling in veered off the road hitting a transformer. According to the Police, the accident had resulted in the transformer pillar collapsing on the truck seriously injuring five people travelling in it at the time. Three out of the injured had later succumbed to their injuries at the Negombo Hospital. Katunayake Police are investigating.

Suspects nabbed for possessing heroin

Two individuals were arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for possessing heroin on Friday. The arrests were made in Malabe on a tip-off received. According to the Police, the suspects were travelling in a car at the time of arrest. Police had discovered 562 grams of heroin on inspection. The suspects, a 37-year-old male and a 26-year-old female were identified as residents of Malabe. PNB is carrying out investigations.

Overstaying foreigner arrested

A Nigerian national remaining in the country without a valid visa was arrested by the Colpetty Police on Friday. According to the Police, the 40-year-old man was arrested on Flower Road for violating the Immigration and Emigration Laws of the country. Colpetty Police are investigating.
