State Vesak Festival 2018 in Kurunegala

The Government has decided to hold State Vesak Festival-2018 at the Bingiriya Devagiri Raja MahaViharaya, in Kurunegala. A meeting of high ranking officials of the Government was held recently at the District Secretariat Kurunegala under the patronage of UNP parliamentarian and Minister of Buddhasasana and Wildlife and Sustainable Development, Gamini Jayawickrama Perera.

Vesak Full Moon Day -2018 falls on April 28, and hence, a special Vesak activity week will be declared from April 28 to May 4 2018 and conducted countrywide, under state patronage. Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs, Nimal Kotawelagedara at the meeting disclosed that 250 dilapidated Buddhist temples are to be renovated and developed in the Kurunegala District to mark the Noble Vesak Festival 2018.

A number of erudite venerable deputy prelates of the three Chapters too were present at the occasion.
