Gallant Lankan Women to meet Kazakhstan in quarter finals

Sri Lanka Women’s team secured a place in the quarter finals and will meet Kazakhstan tomorrow in the Asian rugby 7’s series 2nd & final leg at Race Course International Stadium in Colombo.

The women’s team gave a fighting display where they lost to Asian heavy Wright’s Japan 19-7 after leading 7-5 going in to last two minutes. Ayesha Kaluarachchi scored the solitary try for Sri Lanka which she her self made the conversion.

In their second match they lost to another Asian top team Hong Kong by 10-5 with Thanuja Weerakkody scoring an unconverted try.They scored a stunning win over South Korea by 29 nil in their final match with sisters Thanuja (2) and Wasana Weerakkody (1) along with Dulani

Pallikondage (1) and Randika Kumudumali (1) scoring the five tries. Thanuja

slotted in two out of the five conversions.
