Housing for kidney patients

Kurunegala District Parliamentarian and Deputy Minister of Housing and Construction Indika Bandaranayake has allocated a sum of Rs. 480 million to assist kidney patients in the district to build houses.

Most of the patients live in shanties as they have to spend on medication.

A patient will be granted Rs. 500,000 to build a new house and Rs.200,000 to complete a half-built house.

The Kurunegala district office of the National Housing Development Authority has already commenced granting the subsidies to deserving residents, said Deputy Minister Bandaranayakey.
