Veteran journalist and author Anula de Silva passed away yesterday. Born on January 28, 1941 in Ambalangoda, she was 82 years old.
de Silva, who has written over 125 books during a journalistic career spanning six decades worked as a writer, translator and journalist.
A graduate of the University of Peradeniya, she joined Lake House after a short stint as a teacher. She served as the Chief Editor of ‘Mihira’ and ‘Tharunee’ newspapers for many years. After leaving Lake House, she served as Chief Editor of women’s newspapers and magazines such as ‘Sirikatha’, ‘Vanitha Vitthi’ and also several children’s newspapers.
Her remains will be at Jayaratne Funeral Parlour, Borella, from today, August 13. The funeral will be held tomorrow, August 14 at 4 p.m. at the General Cemetery, Borella.
