Leader of the House, Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha told Parliament yesterday that there are 2,070 vacancies in the academic staff of the state university system in Sri Lanka and the initial work necessary to fulfill those vacancies are being carried out promptly. The Minister also said that nearly 1,300 employees have left the service and retired during the period 2021-2023 and necessary recruitments will be done for them.
He said that the number of staff who have left the service was 519 and 663 employees have resigned. He said this while replying to a question raised by NPP MP Dr.Harini Amarasuriya.
