Isipathana escape late Antonian surge

Isipathana College took advantage of their early lead to defeat St. Anthony’s College by 37 points (5 tries, 3 conversions 2 penalties) to 26 (4 tries 3 conversions) in their Dialog schools league rugby encounter played at Longdon Place yesterday.

The winners took a healthy lead of 18 points to 5 at half time. St. Anthony’s came back to the game through some robust play late in the second half and managed to get a bonus point for their four tries.

Isipathana obtained their tries through Randy Silva (2), Nisaja Jayaweera, Zumri and Rinesh Silva.

St. Anthony’s who came back to the game in the final stages posed a threat to get close to the Isipathana score but ran out of time.
