The fourth KAJ International Karate Championship was held at the Albert Peiris Indoor Stadium in Wennappuwa on April 2 that also served as a trial to select the winners who will participate in the Asian Gojuryu Karate Championship to be held from June 15 in Nepal.

The Sri Lankan championship was held under the auspices of the World Gojuryu Karate Federation and the Asian Gojuryu Karate Federration.

The organizing committee in Sri Lanka received the support of the National Referees Council, the Asian Gojuryu Karate Federation and the World Gojuryu Karate Federation to conduct this championship.

International karate instructor Kiyoshi Glenn Stevenson of the KAJ Gojuryu Sri Lanka Association also played a key part to conduct this championship at a very high level according to Sensei Damith Bandara who led the organizing committee in Sri Lanka.
