Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella today (27) informed the Parliament that there is a shortage of 112 types of drugs used in government hospitals.
He stated that while there are 1,347 types of medicines that are being used, hospitals are facing a shortage of 150 types. The Minister also added that the Sri Lankan government spends Rs. 50 billion per year for the export of medicines and as per a request made by the Cabinet, the Ministry of Finance has allocated an additional Rs. 40 million as well.
