Trade unions in a number of government bodies have decided to launch a strike demanding the government to withdraw the new tax policy.
They have announced that they will heighten their trade union action against the new tax regime.
The President issued a Gazette notification declaring several services as essential services. The government had issued an extraordinary Gazette notification in February declaring the supply and distribution of electricity, petroleum products and all services related to health sector as essential services.
