
The Mount Lavinia Crime Investigation Bureau yesterday arrested the person who robbed the official car of Kuliyapitiya Additional Magistrate Sampath Ariyasena after locking him up in his home. The Police also found the stolen car.
The suspect had come to the Additional Magistrate’s home under the guise of renting a house owned by him located at Pinnawala Road, Piliyandala Madapatha. The Police had found the stolen car in Wattala.
The suspect is about 25-years-old. At the time of his arrest, he was staying temporarily at a rented house in an apartment complex in Wattala.
According to the Police, the suspect is a student of a leading school in Colombo. The suspect’s father is a person who has worked in a state bank and his brother is working in a high-ranking job in a European country.
Investigations have revealed that the father and mother are living separately. Based on this situation, it has been found that this suspect has been living in a rented house in Wattala and has been engaging in fraudulent activities.
The Police have also found that the suspect has engaged in a number of fraudulent activities and some of them are related to complaints already received by the police. The suspect had been arrested after perusing both phone records and CCTV camera footage. The Police are conducting further investigations on the suspect.
