Seventy-five buses to mark Independence

Seventy-five new buses were received under the Indian credit line to mark Sri Lanka’s 75th Independence Day. The public transport system will be bolstered with another 425 buses this year. The 75 buses were handed over to the Ministers recently to be distributed among SLTB depots. The buses were presented by Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC Umesh Gautam to Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Dr. Bandula Gunawardena. Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, Trade Minister Nalin Fernando and State Minister of Investment Promotion Dilum Amunugama were also present.
