Mass Media Ministry Secretary Anusha Palpita yesterday directed the Acting Director General of Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) in a letter, to inform him of what legal action the TRC would take regarding what appears to be obscene video footage telecast during night news telecast by a local TV station on December 23.
The Mass Media Ministry’s letter addressed to TRC Acting Director General R.G.H.K. Ranatunga, stated that as per the ministry’s
observation the video footage displaying apparently unnatural sexual behaviour has damaging consequences for children and adults.
It has broken all ethical media and social boundaries, the letter stated directing the TRC to investigate. (CW)
