Sri Lanka’s squash players were left frustrated when they learnt that they will not be going to participate at the Asian Team Squash Championship to be held in Korea shortly.
Sri Lanka Squash (SLS) have conducted two trials to selected four boys and four girl players and their names have been sent to the Ministry of Sports for approval and financial support but there has been no response from the Ministry yet.
Imagine the amount of time wasted by the players who attended trials twice before the final selections were done? It seems that the players have been told that SLS does not have the funds to send the team to Korea. It is estimated that the airfare for each player will cost Rs. 600,000/= and that the players cannot afford this kind of finances.
However, Sunday Observer learns that SLS is paying a colossal amount of Rs. 800,000 per month to this Pakistani coach.
It is also learnt that this coach has plenty of experience but is not that highly qualified when it comes to producing qualification certificates.
