Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena will present the draft resolution on setting up the Parliamentary committee designated as the National Council on Tuesday, State Minister of Livestock Development, D.B. Herath told the Sunday Observer yesterday.
Premier Gunawardena will propose the National Council consisting of not less than 35 MPs. The MPs will debate the resolution and it will be passed in Parliament on the same day, he said.
The National Council will set common parliamentary priorities besides formulating national policies related to economic stabilisation.
The Council could call for reports from any committee on Government finances, including sectoral supervision and Government accounts, the sources said.
