
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said that over 50 percent of fuel stations in the country have started fuel distribution using the National Fuel Pass QR system.
The Minister said that 481 fuel stations including 409 Ceypetco and 72 LIOC filling stations had dispensed fuel under this system from July 27.
Around 158,208 consumers had obtained fuel using the QR System on July 27 alone.
According to the Minister, 4,296,950 vehicles have been registered under this system by 8.30 pm on July 27.
Businesses and organisations with multiple vehicles can obtain the National Fuel Pass for their vehicles by using their business registration number. However, those who need to get fuel for machines for business purposes must register themselves at the Divisional Secretariat of the area, the Minister said. A spokesman for the Ministry of Energy said that the fuel dispensing program according to the permit will be implemented at all fuel stations across the country from August 1.
