The SJB Parliamentary group which met on Friday unanimously decided to field SJB and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa as their Presidential candidate.
SJB Parliamentarian Imthiaz Bakeer Markar said that the discussions held with other Opposition parties and groups in this regard have been successful. He said it is the local and international stand that after the President, Prime Minister and the Finance Minister step down, the Opposition Leader is the most suitable alternative leader to take over the country’s leadership. He said it was revealed at a discussion that the SJB held with a large number of Opposition political party representatives that the Opposition Leader is the ideal person to take the country’s administration after the mandate of the present rulers are rejected.
