The death occurred of veteran radio personality and author Dr. Palitha Samarasinghe after a brief illness yesterday.
Dr. Samarasinghe is a versatile personality who has proved his class in many spheres. A former Secretary and Media Consultant of Ministries of Education and Higher Education, Cultural Affairs and State Ministry of Defence, Dr. Samarasinghe had also served as Senior Superintendent of Police (Senior SP) and Senior Consultant of Sri Lanka Police Advisory Council.
An unofficial magistrate, Dr. Samarasinghe was also an all-land JP. He leaves his wife – veteran radio personality Ratna Samarasinghe and only daughter Bhashini who is a well-known presenter at Sri FM/ Manageress and freelance journalist at the Sunday Observer.
Body lies at the Jayaratne Respect parlour, Colombo and the funeral takes place at General Cemetery, Kanatta at 4 pm today.
