“Let’s grow and win together”

3 July, 2022

Approval of the Cabinet of Ministers was given recently to cultivate about 250,000 hectares of cultivable lands belonging to Buddhist temples, Kovils, sacred lands and other religious premises in the country under the National Program of Cultivating food crops for the country themed “ Let’s grow and win together” under the guidance of Ministry of Agriculture.

Accordingly, all cultivable lands belonging to Buddhist temple premises within the Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts of the North Western Province (NWP) are to be grown with crops immediately to increase the food production for the people.

A special program to plant about 100,000 jak plants in the North Western Province was launched last week at Colambagama Sri Miyugunaramaya Buddhist Temple in Kurunegala by the North Western Province Governor Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda following the request of the Government to expedite food growing campaign.

Here, the NWP –PC Governor Karannagoda is seen offering a high quality jak plant to a Government school student at the ceremony of distributing jak plants to the residents of the NWP held at Sri Miyugunaramaya temple.
