SriLankan Airlines will cease flights between Colombo and Bahrain operated under flight numbers UL 201 and UL 202 from May 12, the airline stated in a media release.
SriLankan’s operations to other destinations within its online network will continue without any change, and any reports stating otherwise are incorrect and based on an internal company notice that was circulated in Bahrain which contained an ambiguous title.
SriLankan Airlines regrets any inconvenience caused by this company notice intended only for Bahrain being circulated by various external parties in unintended markets. The airline reiterates that flights to its other online destinations will operate as usual. SriLankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka and a member of the oneworld alliance, is an award-winning airline with a firm reputation as a global leader in service, comfort, safety, reliability, and punctuality, the release added.
Launched in 1979, the airline’s hub is at Bandaranaike International Airport, providing connections to its global network (including codeshare partners) of 127 destinations in 61 countries. Its direct route map covers major cities across Europe, Australia, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, South East Asia and the Far East.
The Airline operates an all-Airbus fleet including a state-of-the-art A330-300 and modern A320/321neo aircraft.
